God-fearing! Why?
I don’t want to be God-fearing. It scares me. I want to find a god that I don’t have to fear and will help me with those I do fear. Where is THAT God? It is a Catholic God, A Protestant, a Baptist, an Episcopal, Evangelical, Jewish, Hindu, Buddhist, or other ritualized religion God? My God, I need one!
Why do I have to suffer on earth to have salvation in heaven? Can you tell me that, please!
How can seemingly intelligent people of all walks of life feel they need to have a spiritual figure to provide guidance and comfort?
I am not saying it is wrong for them, I just don’t understand it for me. I also don’t understand why this spiritual leader figure needs to be a male, in nearly all cases, and a human in nearly every case.
Each of the deity following religions has a playbook that offers stories to learn from and live by. Most have the same basic story, and some have harsh penalties for infractions of the rules in these playbooks.
The fear of afterlife reprisals and retribution keeps most on track and runs the lives of many more. The heat of hell and the eternal glory of heaven provide the balancing act that most have to juggle as they navigate their way through the circus that is the human condition. In the end, each soul must decide to act or not act on acts that may or may not be leading to one destination or the other.
The variety of choices offered for who and what to believe in is impressive. It too offers an interesting insight into why a moral and spiritual leader is needed. It seems the leader embodies the code beliefs of those you want to be around. Otherwise, you would leave that flavor of religion for another that better suits your tastes. Some like chocolate other vanilla, and others tutti-frutti.
Yet each flavor for some must be the only flavor. Vanilla and Chocolate should not mix, say some; others can’t imagine a world that allows tutti-fruits, and this flavor type must be melted out of their fruity beliefs or banished and shamed.
The sheer illogical conclusion that there is only one true god and there is only one flavor that you should believe in should be cause enough see the error in the logic of their ways. How can all the ritualized dogmatic religions have the one and only flavor god? It is not possible. Either there are lots of losers and only one winner, all losers and no winner, or all winners with a misunderstanding across all of the religious spectrums.
I don’t expect to change anyone's opinion or drop their religion. I am merely saying I would rather take my chances with my decisions and hope that after my mortality gives in to eternal planned obsolescence, I will be welcomed into the hereafter. There will be a place for me.
